The Commons is another cafe located at Cinnamon Gardens. I visited this place with some of my friends on a weekend afternoon, and here’s what I think of it.
The Commons is an ideal place to hangout with friends, while having a cup of coffee, or else to grab a bite at the end of a tiresome day. The cozy environment at Commons, with comfy sofas and bean bags will make you feel homey. Since they have private room spaces, it is also a good place to conduct events like birthday parties, or hen dos (The reservations should be done prior to the event). Such room can handle around 10 – 15 people at once.
Food and Drinks
The Commons serves a range of coffees, teas, juices in their drinks menu. The food menu contains sandwiches, pasta, waffles, wraps, burgers and rice items. Out of them, we ordered a Chili Prawn Pasta, Mandarin juice, Lime juice and a Cappuccino.
I really liked the pasta I had here. It was covered with Parmesan cheese and had plenty of shrimps. Even after a half and hour, I was quite surprised to see that the bottom layers of the pasta is still warm; all thanks to the thickness of the cheese it had on top. The pasta was properly cooked, and the chili flakes made it spicy.
The Mandarin juice was fine. The sourness and the sweetness was well – balanced, which we liked.
We did not like the Lime juice. It was really sour, so we could not drink more than two, three sips. The Cappuccino was watery, and even though it was listed under the hot drinks, it was barely warm.
The service is okay at Commons. The staff members are not that friendly, but they serve the food fast.
For a reservation, they do not ask for a reservation fee, but instead they require each customer to order at least Rs.800 worth of food. This is not unfair in such circumstances, since it equals the cost of an average food and a drink at Commons. Even we did not have the best experience with food (except for the pasta), we really liked the cozy environment here.
