Loon Tao is a restaurant at Mount Lavinia that serves Chinese cuisine for a decent price tag.
The view at Loon Tao is incredible. In here, you can turn your regular evening to something magical. You will be mesmerized by the view of the sea, and its breeze that touches your skin while watching the moon rises over the horizon.
I opted for “Malaysian style sea food fried rice”, “Hot butter mushrooms” and “Schezuwan style stir fried Cuttlefish in Chili sauce”. The seafood fried rice was properly cooked, and it had plenty of cuttlefish and shrimp pieces. The rice was well-seasoned, which I liked very much.
I absolutely loved the chili sauce of the cuttlefish curry. Even though it was spicy, it went well with the fried rice.
The hot butter mushroom tasted really good. The spices were well-balanced, and the baby corns made it more delightful.
As for the dessert, I ordered a “Caramel biscuit pudding”. The pudding was rich with dark chocolate and caramel, and was nicely layered with biscuits inside. A scoop of vanilla ice cream and Kithul treacle were also served with this.
The staff at Loon Tao is amazing. My order took only around 10 – 15 minutes, and the waiter was really friendly as well. They are quite familiar with the menu, so you can doubtlessly count on them when it comes to choosing the food that goes with your appetite.
Loon Tao is one of the best places to get authentic taste of Chinese cuisine. The ambience and the service is welcoming as well.
